Postpartum Doula

A postpartum doula provides invaluable support to families after childbirth by offering practical assistance, emotional guidance, and evidence-based information. They assist with newborn care, feeding guidance, and household tasks, aiming to ease the transition into parenthood and allowing parents to rest, recover, and bond with their new baby. Additionally, they offer emotional reassurance, validate parental instincts, and provide resources to navigate the challenges of the postpartum period, fostering confidence and well-being for the entire family unit.

Some examples of Postpartum Doula services are:

  • Providing guidance on newborn care techniques, such as, bathing, diapering, and understanding newborn cues

  • Offering information and referrals to other community resources or support groups, connecting families with additional services or professionals as needed for various aspects of postpartum care

  • Helping with light household chores such as meal preparation, laundry, and tidying up to alleviate some of the burdens and allow parents to focus on rest and bonding with the newborn

  • Assisting in the transition for older siblings by providing guidance and support on how to involve them in caring for the new baby and offering activities to help them adjust to the new family dynamic
